My interest in investing started from a young age. As long as I can remember, my dad preached to me about the importance of financial independence – having the freedom to do what you want, when you want, for as long as you want. It certainly had a nice ring to it! My dad would often proclaim that the Roth IRA was the best thing since sliced bread – and he wasn’t wrong. I opened a Roth IRA when I was in college when the max contribution was – as I date myself – a miniscule $2,000 a year!

My dad was also responsible for giving me the seminal book The Millionaire Next Door. The book was a road map on how one’s use of money – both spending and saving – could lead you directly towards (or away from) a life of financial independence. It’s shaped my views on money ever since.
In college, I interned at Boeing and while I was blessed to have a great internship, I learned flying fighter planes was much more fun than doing cost modeling for them. I was offered a full time job but declined for a lower paying job at an investment firm. It’s not where you start but where you finish, right?
My investment career started on the trading floor as a bond trader. For more than a decade, I traded all sorts of bonds helping clients build diversified portfolios designed to help them achieve their long-term financial goals.
In 2016, I accepted a new role as Chief Investment Officer. I served in that capacity for two different firms writing a weekly piece aimed at explaining current market events, core investing principles, and how our behavior as investors often dictates our success or failure until 2024. I’m now employed by Socium Adivsors as Director of Investments.

To bring these investment concepts to life, I utilize stories and analogies that all investors can understand and hopefully enjoy – after all, learning is easier when it’s educational AND entertaining! This blog is an extension of that passion to help people make better investing decisions that can ultimately impact their lives for the better!

I’m the lucky father of two wonderful kids who teach me more about life everyday than I could ever hope to teach them. They’re currently teaching schooling me at playing chess.
In my down time, I love consuming books and podcasts, traveling, and being active. I’ve run eight marathons including living out my childhood dream of running the Boston Marathon in 2019 and again in 2022, & 2023. I’m currently “trying” to be an aspiring triathlete with a bucket list goal of completing an Ironman.

Thanks for being the best part of this blog and it’s my sincerest hope you leave this blog better equipped to achieve your own financial goals and live your best life!
